Zhukov Square

Zhukov Square in Minsk, located at the intersection of Minina and Zheleznodorozhnaya streets, is a cozy corner nestled in the greenery of old trees. These tall trees not only provide shade but also create a peaceful atmosphere, much needed in the rhythm of a big city. The central element of the square is a bust of the four-time Hero of the Soviet Union, Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, which was ceremoniously unveiled on May 8, 2007. This monument attracts the attention of passersby and serves as an important reminder of the great commander who played a key role in liberating Belarus from the Nazi invaders. Zhukov Square has a rich history. Previously, there was a monument to Stalin on this site, and in 1979, a sculpture of "Orpheus" was installed, which later disappeared. Nevertheless, the square continues to be an important cultural and historical place for the residents of Minsk. Here, you can not only enjoy the well-maintained paths and neat lawns but also feel the spirit of courage and heroism associated with Zhukov's name. Although the square is located next to the busy Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, it remains a cozy and pleasant place for relaxation. Its charm is enhanced by lanterns and flower beds with seasonal blooms. It is always clean and tidy, with maintenance taken care of, and visitors can comfortably spend time on the convenient benches. This place is loved by both the elderly and young families with children who find a peaceful haven here amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.
