Hugo Chavez Park
Hugo Chávez Park, located at the intersection of Kazimirovskaya and Kolesnikova Streets in the densely populated Kamennaya Gorka area of Minsk, has become one of the city's main green spaces after a major renovation. It now offers residents and visitors a variety of recreational and entertainment options. Covering 17 hectares, the park underwent significant changes during its renovation. One of its main features is a large cascading staircase with pergolas and resting areas, providing visitors with comfort and convenience. The park's natural appearance was preserved as most of the trees were either retained or transplanted, maintaining its unique landscape. The park’s entertainment area was greatly expanded. Previously featuring only children's carousels, it now includes attractions for all ages. Popular rides include the "Waltz," "Flying Saucer," and "Autodrome." There are also trampolines, a laser shooting gallery, a 5D cinema, and a maze, while a miniature train adds a distinctive charm to the park. For the youngest visitors, a large playground called "Fairy Kingdom" with a rubberized surface for safety has been created. This children’s area includes speed slides, climbing structures, playhouses, and swings, providing a space for play and imagination. Parents can comfortably watch their children from benches near the playground. Teenagers will also find engaging activities here. The park features a modern skate park with various elements for performing tricks on skateboards, rollerblades, and bicycles. The skate park is situated a sufficient distance from the children’s areas, ensuring safety and tranquility for all visitors. For those who prefer active recreation, the park has workout areas equipped with modern sports gear. These include muscle training complexes with pull-up bars, sit-up benches, and push-up bars. There is also a closed sports area for soccer and a basketball hoop, appealing to team sports enthusiasts. Hugo Chávez Park also delights visitors with its diverse relaxation zones. Numerous benches, pavilions, and cafes are available for a snack after a stroll or active play. Additional landscaping is planned for the near future. In winter, the park will feature two tubing slides, making it an attractive destination year-round. The park is open 24/7, with attractions operating during the summer months. The park's history began in 2014 when it was named after Hugo Chávez. At that time, it resembled a wasteland with a memorial plaque. Over the next decade, the park was completely transformed into a modern recreational area catering to all age groups. It has become a popular spot not only for residents of Kamennaya Gorka but also for people from other parts of Minsk. By 2025, further improvements are planned, including the construction of a velodrome, a ski roller track, and additional sports facilities. Thus, Hugo Chávez Park is a vivid example of how a neglected area can be transformed into a modern space for both active and leisurely recreation, meeting the needs of Minsk's residents and visitors.
