Malomedvezhinsky Square

2 min. to read

Malomedvezhinsky Square, located in the Moskovsky District of Minsk, is a cozy and picturesque spot for rest and strolls. Bounded by Kupriyanova and Voloha streets, the square covers over 8 hectares, making it one of the city's larger green oases. Within its grounds lies a large pond, locally known as "Mukhlya," which formed in the place of an old clay pit. The history of the square dates back to Soviet times when it was named in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Komsomol. In 2009, it was renamed "Malomedvezhinsky" after the former village of Maloe Medvezhino, which disappeared in the 1970s. Today, the square attracts visitors with its well-maintained environment and diverse recreational infrastructure. In recent years, Malomedvezhinsky Square has undergone extensive renovations. New pathways have been laid out, and comfortable benches have been installed for relaxation. The central feature of the square is a fountain with cascading waterfalls, which creates a special atmosphere and is a popular spot for photos. For active recreation lovers, the square offers sports and children's playgrounds. There is also a designated area for dog walking and training. In 2015, in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, an alley of 70 trees was planted, along with a commemorative stone, adding historical significance to the place. Malomedvezhinsky Square is a quiet haven amidst urban development, where visitors can enjoy nature, feed the ducks in the pond, fish, or simply spend time with family. In winter, the pond turns into an ice rink for skating. When planning a walk in Minsk, be sure to visit Malomedvezhinsky Square. This place will offer you peace, fresh air, and unforgettable impressions.
