Endless mirrors, shining spheres, and atmospheric photo zones – this year, Belarus's capital will be adorned for the holidays like never before. The festive spirit will embrace both the central streets and the city's remote neighborhoods. A total of 27 Christmas trees will be installed, each becoming part of a unique artistic project. Let’s find out what awaits Minsk residents and visitors this December.
The Main Christmas Tree of the Country on October Square
Every year, the main Christmas tree of the country becomes a symbol of the holiday and a highlight of Minsk. This year, the tree on October Square will shine in luxurious red and gold tones. Its decorations will include hundreds of ornaments, and the traditional "pixel shawl" will preserve the magic of the New Year.
A brand-new addition will be the estate of Ded Moroz (Father Frost) and Snegurochka, located at the foot of the tree. This fairy-tale zone will allow everyone to feel like a child and make a wish.
Another key holiday destination in Minsk is Independence Square. The Christmas tree here will also feature red and gold decorations but with unique elements.
According to Tatyana Bugorkova, head of the design department at "Minskreklama," the decorations will include handmade ornaments, such as whimsical stars with ribbon tails. These will be creatively arranged on the lush fir branches.
In addition to the tree, Independence Square will offer spaces for photos and leisurely walks. The area will feature:
- Two decorative arches adorned with fir branches and bright spheres.
- Massive gift boxes up to 2 meters tall.
All of this will create perfect selfie spots, delighting social media enthusiasts.
A stop by the Belarusian State Circus promises to be a delightful surprise for Minsk residents. Four mini Christmas trees with an infinity mirror effect – a technological innovation new to Minsk – will be installed here.
The main tree in this area will be complemented by snowflakes and ornaments of various shapes and sizes. A New Year’s gazebo and fairy-tale characters will bring festive cheer to both children and adults.
The infinity mirror effect will also grace the State Flag Square, this time in the form of large multicolored spheres. These will blend harmoniously with the Christmas tree, decorated in the colors of the Belarusian flag. This creative concept will emphasize national identity and give the square a modern look.
Further along Independence Avenue, visitors can admire the unique Christmas tree by the Belarusian State Philharmonic. Its decorations will shine with golden hues, enhanced by glossy blue and green accents.
Special attention will be drawn to intricate snowflakes and carved vertical details that highlight the height and elegance of the festive tree. Nearby, two illuminated photo zones will create the illusion of an evening cityscape.
Komarovsky Market and the Tree of Wishes
In the square near Komarovsky Market, two illuminated "wish pillars" will be installed. About 2.5 meters tall, these will resemble large advertising columns, decorated with warm wishes for peace, love, prosperity, and health.
Visitors passing by these pillars can make a wish and feel inspired by the holiday spirit.
Light Masterpieces by the Palace of Sports
The
area near the Palace of Sports will become a true holiday attraction. A light canopy and the “Kaleidoscope of Wishes” installation will return, but in an updated form. This year, the decorations will feature blue, silver, and pink tones, adding a fresh twist to the traditional look.
Additionally, twelve carved arches adorned with New Year’s wishes will be installed. Designers claim that walking under each arch brings you closer to fulfilling your cherished dreams.
Festive Streets and Neighborhoods
The holiday spirit will spread beyond Minsk’s city center to its districts. Here are a few highlights:
Zavodskoy District: a Christmas tree near "Chizhovka-Arena" (19 Tashkentskaya Street).
Partizansky District: decorations in Central Children’s Park named after Gorky.
Frunzensky District: a Christmas tree near the Ice Palace (27 Pritytsky Street).
Central District: a light canopy near "Minsk-Arena" and festive decorations by the Town Hall.
Additionally, traditional advertising pillars will transform into festive illuminated cylinders, adding sparkle and magic to the city.
