The "Coin" Sculpture is a unique art object, installed on September 21, 2020, near the office of the "Dabrabyt" Bank at 49 Kommunisticheskaya Street in Minsk. The author of this impressive composition is the renowned Belarusian sculptor Konstantin Kostyuchenko, with the project architects being Alexander Kobrusov and Vladimir Arkhangelsky.

Description of the Sculpture

The coin, made of bronze, stands approximately three meters tall and weighs around two tons. Both sides of the coin depict currency symbols that have been used in Belarus over the centuries — from the Middle Ages to modern times. The sculpture symbolizes the rich history of the country’s financial system, combining elements of antiquity and modernity.

Historical Context

The "Coin" sculpture not only attracts the attention of tourists and locals but also harmoniously fits into the tourist infrastructure of Minsk. It is located in the picturesque center of the capital, near the Svisloch River embankment and the Starostinskaya Sloboda Park, making it an ideal spot for walks and photo sessions. Many of the coins depicted on the sculpture can also be seen in the "Groshy" Money Museum, located nearby on Zybitskaya Street. This museum offers an extensive collection of coins and banknotes covering the entire history of currency circulation in Belarus.

Conclusion

The "Coin" Sculpture has become an important part of Minsk's cultural heritage and a great place for tourists who wish to learn about the country's history through the lens of its financial system. It symbolizes the unity of different eras and cultures, reflecting Belarus's unique position at the crossroads of east and west. Visiting this sculpture and other attractions in the Trinity Suburb will create unforgettable impressions and provide opportunities for original photographs to remember.
