Starostinskaya Sloboda is a cozy park on a hill located in the Central District of Minsk along the Svisloch River. This place is steeped in history: it was once an ancient suburb that existed from the 16th century until the first half of the 20th century. It got its name from the people who bought land from the starosta — the head of the administrative district.
The park is perfect for walks at any time of the day. In 1999, a monument to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin was erected in the park, which is why it is sometimes called Pushkin Park. However, in 2009, the park was officially named "Starostinskaya Sloboda" to reflect its historical roots.
