Fountain "Youth"

Fountain "Youth"

2 min. to read

Fountain "Youth", located in the picturesque Edward Voilnovich Square, near Independence Square and the Church of St. Simeon and St. Helena, is one of the most romantic corners of Minsk. The man-made pond on which the fountain is situated is adorned with an elegant curved bridge and dark gray boulders, harmoniously scattered across its area. In one corner of the landscape, a large weeping willow gracefully leans over, its long branches creating a cozy shelter for a fragile sculpture depicting a boy and a girl, who kneel while holding bowls as if to quench each other's thirst with clear water. This touching composition, crafted by sculptor A. Anikeichik and architect S. Musinski in the 1970s, embodies youth and love, reflecting its name. The fountain has become a symbol of romance and hope, and there is a belief associated with this monument: it is said that if you rub the knee of one of the statues, your personal life will improve. Fountain "Youth" is in close proximity to Independence Square, which was established in 1933 according to the design of Soviet architect I. G. Langbard. This square, rich in history, has been the site of many significant events, including parades and demonstrations. Here you can see buildings constructed in different eras, such as the Church of St. Simeon and St. Helena (1905-1910), Belarusian State University (1921), and the "Minsk" hotel (1959). Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Fountain "Youth" and enjoy its atmosphere, full of romance and history. This place is perfect for walks, photography, and unforgettable moments, and it will be a great addition to your itinerary in Minsk.
