Hugo Chavez Park, located in the Kamennaya Gorka district, plans to build an ice rink. This was reported by the Deputy General Director of "Minskgreenery" Ekaterina Korotkina.
Park Reconstruction Project: Current Achievements and Future Plans
The design of the new phase of the park's reconstruction, which will be the fourth, has been completed. At this stage, the focus is on the development of sports infrastructure. Construction works are planned to start in the spring or summer of 2025. These works include:
- Installation of workout areas.
- Creation of new children's play zones.
- Implementation of the idea of creating an ice rink for the winter period, if the project passes approval and is accepted according to the legal framework of the Republic of Belarus.
Ekaterina Korotkina noted that the construction of the ice rink is still under discussion, and the final decision will be made after all approvals are completed.
Hugo Chavez Park: Stages of Development
The park's reconstruction began several years ago. In July 2024, the third phase of the renovation was completed, transforming the 17-hectare area. The following improvements were made during this phase:
- A cascade staircase with pergolas was built.
- Play areas were created, including children's playgrounds and a large complex called "Fairy Kingdom".
- A skate park was established, which has become popular among teenagers.
- Modern attractions were installed, such as the "Flying Saucer", "Autodrome", and others.
- A cafe was opened, and rest areas with gazebos and benches were created.
The park was named after Hugo Chavez in 2014, but until recently, the area remained unappealing. With the launch of new stages of reconstruction, the park is becoming an important center for recreation and sports for the residents of Kamennaya Gorka.
What Will the Ice Rink Be Like?
The ice rink is planned to be a seasonal facility that will operate during the winter. It will not only be a place for active recreation but also an extension of the park's sports concept. It is expected that the new rink will attract residents of Kamennaya Gorka and surrounding areas, expanding the options for winter entertainment in Minsk.
Plans for Other Parks in Minsk
"Minskgreenery" also shared plans for changes in other green spaces of the capital:
- Gorky Park: Reconstruction is underway, which will include updating retail objects, installing a video surveillance system, and adding two new attractions — "Waltz" and "Dragons".
- Chelyuskintsev Park: Expansion of infrastructure is planned, including the installation of the "Mix" and "Swans" attractions.
- People's Unity Park: The demolition of old structures is underway at the site of the former Dreamland amusement park, after which the construction of the National Historical Museum of Belarus will begin.
Additionally, in Minsk, efforts continue to improve "wild" green zones, turning them into full-fledged recreational spaces.
Hugo Chavez Park: A New Center for Active Recreation
Hugo Chavez Park is rapidly developing, transforming into a versatile space for recreation and sports. If the ice rink project is realized, it will be another step toward creating a modern, multifunctional space for the residents of Minsk.
