A Tradition Unaffected by the Weather
According to Ermolovich, for many years Minsk has maintained the tradition of turning on the fountains on the last Friday of April. This year, the date falls on the 25th, and the weather has nothing to do with it—the launch of the fountains symbolizes the arrival of spring and the renewal of the urban environment. “This is an established tradition that we do not plan to abandon,” emphasized the head of “Minskzelenstroy”.Fountain Renovations: What’s New?
Minskzelenstroy manages 39 operational fountains, and 16 of them are slated for modernization by the start of the season. In particular:- At Yakub Kolas Square, the fountain bowl will be replaced, which will help restore its former attractiveness.
- At the “Amphitheater” fountain near the Sports Palace, modern software will be installed, making the water displays even more spectacular.
Minsk’s Gems: From Antiquity to Modernity
The capital’s fountains are not only functional objects but also a part of the city’s history. Among them are true landmarks:- The Oldest Fountain — “The Boy with the Swan” in Alexandrovsky Square, which has delighted onlookers since 1874.
- The Most Modern — the light and music fountain on the Svisloch River, located between Yanki Kupala Park and Kommunisticheskaya Street.
- The Largest — the fountain at the Great Theatre, whose bowl holds up to 300,000 liters of water.
- Record Holder for the Number of Jets — the fountain at Independence Square with nearly 800 jets.
Spring Begins with Fountains
The launch of the fountains on April 25 will be a true celebration for the residents and visitors of the city, symbolizing renewal and the arrival of warm days. These water structures not only beautify the capital but also create a comfortable atmosphere during the hot summer months. We eagerly await the moment when Minsk will once again burst forth in a splash of water colors!Latest Articles
