Minsk Opens Attraction Season 2025 with Renovated Parks and New Rides

May 4,5 min. to read

1 May 2025 in Minsk officially kicked off the season of attractions, giving residents and guests of the city the long-awaited opportunity to enjoy outdoor recreation. The main news this year was the reopening after reconstruction of the Central Children’s Park named after Maxim Gorky, which on its 220th anniversary appeared in its renewed form. Along with it, other popular capital parks opened their gates: Chelyuskintsev Park, the 900th Anniversary of Minsk Park, and Hugo Chávez Park. We explain what’s new for visitors this season and why Minsk’s parks remain a favorite place for relaxation.

Gorky Park: a blend of history and modernity

Central Children’s Park named after Maxim Gorky is the oldest park in Belarus, founded in 1805 as the Governor’s Garden. Over its long history it has become an integral part of Minsk’s cultural code. In 2025, after a large-scale reconstruction, the park preserved its historical appearance, complemented by modern amenities.
  • Heritage-focused reconstruction: According to park director Gleb Kuznetsov, all changes were coordinated with the authorities to preserve authenticity. The new retail pavilions are styled after the 1930s, while the landscape remained untouched.
  • New relaxation zones: On the site of the old “Sailor’s Bay” café, a “quiet” rest area has been created with wooden decking, benches, and views of the pond. Minsk resident Olga noted: “It’s so peaceful here—you can just sit and enjoy nature.”

New attractions: from “Dragon” to “Free-Fall Point”

Gorky Park welcomes guests with an updated lineup of rides. There are now 29 attractions in total, making it the leader among the capital’s parks in terms of the number of carousels and slides.
  • Seasonal novelties: Among the new attractions are “Dragon,” “Biorobot,” “Fire Brigade,” and the extreme “Free-Fall Point.” The classic “Waltz” (known locally as the “Shell”) has also been refurbished.
  • Children’s area: A sandbox and rope playground have been added, already becoming a hit with the little ones.
Chelyuskintsev Park is not far behind: here a new ride called “Mix” has opened in place of the old “Swans,” while the traditional “Roller Coaster” and “Waltz” still draw queues. In total, the park offers 16 attractions, including shooting galleries and bumper cars for the very young.

Visitor feedback: what Minsk residents and guests are saying

The renovated parks have already received their first reviews. Minsk resident Andrey shared: “Gorky Park has become cozier and more modern. Now it’s not just a place for children, but for peaceful relaxation too.” A guest from Zhodino added: “Beautiful park, great atmosphere, riding the attractions is pure joy.” Families with children praise the convenience of the new zones and the variety of entertainment. “We came to stroll and are already planning to make it a tradition,” said tourists who visited Gorky Park after its opening.

Other Minsk parks: the season is open for everyone

  • Chelyuskintsev Park: 16 attractions, including “Pharaoh” and “Zodiac,” plus numerous food stalls—from shashlik to cotton candy.
  • The 900th Anniversary of Minsk Park: A compact relaxation area with new amusements and a convenient schedule.
  • Hugo Chávez Park: Plans for 2025 include expansion with a cycling track and a hockey rink.
Most rides operate from 11:00 to 21:00, with Monday and Tuesday as closed days (the 900th Anniversary of Minsk Park is also closed on Wednesdays).

Future plans: development of park zones

Minsk authorities have announced further development of the parks. In the Hugo Chávez Park, new sports and play areas will be added, and work continues on the People’s Unity Park and the National Historical Museum. These sites are set to become new attractions by 2027.

Conclusion: why you should visit Minsk’s parks

The opening of the attractions season in Minsk is not just about entertainment, but also an opportunity to touch history, enjoy nature, and spend time with family. Gorky Park, renewed and full of novelties, sets the tone, while the other capital parks maintain the atmosphere of fun and relaxation. Come to Minsk’s parks to recharge with spring energy and kick off the season in style!
