Spring Blossoms and Summer Festivities at Minsk’s Central Botanical Garden

Spring Blossoms and Summer Festivities at Minsk’s Central Botanical Garden

April 20, 2025,4 min. to read

When was the last time you took a stroll through Central Botanical Garden? If it’s been a while, now is the perfect time to go! After long months of renovation that began in August 2024, the lake in the garden has finally been restored and is open for visitors. This 1.5‑hectare artificial pond has become a true gem thanks to new bridges, stylish railings, and cozy piers that invite you closer to the water. The reservoir, temporarily drained during the works, is now being refilled from an artesian well via picturesque cascades. The first guests have already appeared on the water’s surface—graceful swans and ducks enjoying the refreshed space.

Spring Magic: Sakura and Spring Flowers

But the lake isn’t the only reason to visit the botanical garden this spring. In mid‑April 2025, early cherry blossom season began here, offering visitors the delicate sight of pink buds. “A significant portion of the buds remain closed due to cool nights. But with the arrival of steady warmth next week, we expect full bloom that will delight everyone,” note the garden staff. Sakura, or Japanese flowering cherry, is not just a tree but a symbol of Japanese culture, embodying the ephemeral nature of life and the beauty of the moment. Several varieties of this amazing plant grow in the garden, each decorating the spring landscape in its own way. Beside the sakura, other spring flowers are blooming: bright crocuses, delicate primroses, sunny winter aconite, and the miniature iridodictyum. These early bloomers, breaking through last year’s leaves, create an atmosphere of true natural awakening.

Summer Full of Flavors: Vulitsa Ezha Anniversary Season

And in summer, the Central Botanical Garden will become even more lively thanks to the Vulitsa Ezha festival, which will mark its tenth anniversary in 2025. Three grand events will take place from June 4–15, July 19–20, and August 30–31 from 12:00 to 22:00. You can look forward to favorite spots: the Local Food Market with craft foods and exotic dishes, the artisanal Louis Market, the family zone by “Mamslet,” and an open‑air cinema. In honor of the anniversary, the organizers have prepared novelties: a historical photo exhibition, lectures with renowned speakers, and live music on stage. For guests from other cities, special bus tours will be organized from Vitebsk, Mogilev, and Grodno, including transfer and entrance ticket. You can also purchase stylish festival merch—T‑shirts, hoodies, and accessories from Belarusian designers.

Why Visit Right Now?

The Central Botanical Garden this season is a place where everyone will find something for themselves. Come admire the restored lake, be inspired by the beauty of blooming sakura, and plan your summer vacation at the Vulitsa Ezha festival. Spring and summer 2025 in Minsk promise to be unforgettable!
