Minsk continues to actively develop infrastructure for the comfortable leisure of its residents. This year, greening experts and city authorities are preparing two new projects that will become striking examples of urban improvement and a modern city environment.
In the western part of Antonovsky Park, managed by the enterprise "Zelenstroy of the Leninsky District", the main area was already improved in 2024. On an 800-meter stretch along the Slepjanskaya water system canal, children's and sports playgrounds, original benches, and a dog walking area have been created. Now, it is planned to continue work on the remaining area in the direction of the railway tracks.
The planned activities include:
- Sanitary tree pruning and removal of undergrowth. This will create a safe and neat space.
- Cleaning the area and restoring pedestrian paths. The total length of the paths will be 370 meters, and they will be covered with asphalt granulate.
- Installation of new recreational elements. Along the path, six swings and workout areas with modern equipment will be installed.
- A contest for bench design. Local organizations will have the opportunity to showcase their creativity by proposing original ideas for decorating the urban space.
The work is planned to be completed by the beginning of July, which will allow residents to enjoy the updated park during the summer.
Update of the square named after Omar Khayyam
The second improvement project is the square named after Omar Khayyam, located between Vaneeva Street and Partizanskaya Avenue. A number of activities for its renewal and greening are also being prepared:
- Clearing the area of excess vegetation. This will create a well-maintained and tidy appearance for the square.
- Repairing paths and stairs. The total length of the paths will be 240 meters, and the area of the renovated stairs will be 25 square meters.
- Installation of new elements for active recreation. The square will feature six hanging swings and other small architectural forms that contribute to a diverse leisure experience.
The updated square is planned to open on September 1, providing the city with a new space for strolls and gatherings with friends.
New opportunities for leisure and city greening
Leisure areas play an important role in the urban environment, offering residents places for relaxation, active recreation, and socializing. These projects are part of a broader program to improve Minsk, under which 63 leisure zones have already been created, with an additional 18 locations planned to open throughout the city this year.
Minsk has long earned a reputation as one of the greenest cities in the country. Every year, tens of thousands of trees, shrubs, and flowers are planted in the capital. Special attention is given to creating ecological trails that not only beautify the city but also promote a culture of care for nature.
Conclusion
The new leisure zones in Minsk are not just another urban improvement project, but a step towards creating a comfortable, modern, and environmentally clean urban environment. The updated areas in Antonovsky Park and the square named after Omar Khayyam will provide residents and visitors with attractive and convenient spots for active recreation, socializing, and relaxation. It is expected that in the coming months, Minsk will delight its residents with new leisure opportunities, further demonstrating the commitment of city authorities to the comfort and well-being of every citizen.
