Minsk Beaches to Get Major Upgrades Ahead of 2025 Bathing Season

April 16,4 min. to read

The capital of Belarus is actively preparing for the upcoming 2025 bathing season. Minsk beaches are expected to undergo a significant transformation that will make leisure for both residents and tourists even more comfortable and varied. Special attention will be paid to developing infrastructure for children's and active recreation.

Modern Equipment for Quality Leisure

According to information provided by Alexander Ermolovich, General Director of UP "MinskZelenstroy", at a recent operational meeting of the Minsk City Executive Committee, this year the city's leisure zones will be supplemented by more than 330 units of new children's and sports equipment. This large-scale update will cover 23 beaches serviced by enterprises within the "MinskZelenstroy" system. "Right now our specialists are actively repairing and painting the existing equipment, while simultaneously dismantling outdated and unusable structures. This work is necessary to ensure the safety and comfort of those enjoying their leisure time," noted Alexander Ermolovich.

A Comprehensive Approach to Improvement

The update of the beaches is not limited to the installation of new equipment. Significant attention is also being paid to the comprehensive improvement of the surrounding areas:
  • Repairs are being carried out on car parks for the convenience of vehicle owners
  • Bicycle paths are being constructed and updated, which is especially important for lovers of an active lifestyle
  • Leisure areas are being enhanced in accordance with modern standards for comfort and environmental friendliness
This approach will create an integrated infrastructure that meets the needs of various categories of vacationers—from families with children to the sports-oriented youth.

Special Attention to the Zaslav Reservoir

One of the key objects of improvement in 2025 will be beach №1 on the Zaslav Reservoir. The work on its development is scheduled to be fully completed this year. "This year, the development of beach №1 on the Zaslav Reservoir will be completed, which will become one of the exemplary leisure zones in the capital," emphasized the head of "MinskZelenstroy". The Zaslav Reservoir, also known as Minsk Sea, is traditionally very popular among residents and visitors alike due to its accessibility and picturesque surroundings.

Opening Dates for the Bathing Season

It is important to note that the traditional opening of the bathing season in Minsk takes place at the end of June or the beginning of July. By that time, the water temperature in the reservoirs reaches safe bathing levels, and the air is consistently warmed to a comfortable degree. By this point, all the planned work on the improvement of the beaches should be completed, allowing locals and visitors to fully enjoy the renewed infrastructure.

The Significance for the City and Its Residents

The implementation of this project is of great importance for enhancing the quality of the urban environment. The updated beaches become not just places for swimming, but multifunctional areas for active recreation, contributing to:
  • Promoting a healthy lifestyle among residents
  • Developing outdoor recreational activities for children
  • Stimulating environmentally friendly modes of transport, including cycling
  • Enhancing the tourist appeal of Minsk
This comprehensive approach to improving leisure zones reflects modern urban development trends, aimed at creating a comfortable, accessible, and eco-friendly environment. It is expected that with the completion of all planned work, the beaches of the Belarusian capital will become even more attractive to visit and will diversify the leisure options for residents during the summer period of 2025.
