On June 1, 2025, in Brest, Belarus, an event took place that extreme sports enthusiasts across the country had been eagerly awaiting. In the Park of Culture and Recreation, the first professional concrete skate park without equivalents in Belarus was ceremoniously opened.

A Gift for Children’s Day

The opening of the new sports venue was timed to coincide with International Children’s Day, symbolically emphasizing the project’s focus on developing youth sports. The Chair of the Brest City Executive Committee, Sergei Lobodinsky, noted the importance of this event for the city: "The skate park is a unique space that will become a new attraction point for teenagers and young people. We created it with care for nature, preserving the green plantings." The implementation of the project became possible within the framework of the Year of Improvement declared in Belarus, which confirms the authorities’ systematic approach to developing urban infrastructure for active recreation.

Technical Excellence and Unique Features

Construction of the skate park began in March 2025, and in just a few months, specialists from the municipal unitary enterprise "Brestzhilstroy," under the leadership of General Director Alexander Romanyuk, created a modern world-class sports facility. The venue is equipped with a variety of elements for performing tricks of varying difficulty. Here are installed flatrails for grinding on railings, grind boxes for practicing technical elements, two professional bowls of different sizes, funboxes, and special run-ups. Special attention is paid to the "book with an edge" element, which allows for complex combination tricks. The main feature of the Brest skate park is the special concrete surface, which provides perfect grip and durability of the structure. Unlike wooden counterparts used even in the capital Minsk, the concrete surface allows riding in any weather and guarantees the safety of athletes.

National Recognition

The day of the skate park’s opening became a real celebration for extreme sports in Belarus. Skaters, rollerbladers, and BMX riders from across the country gathered in Brest to be the first to try out the new venue. Particularly impressive were the performances of the "Magistr" team from Minsk, whose members demonstrated a high level of skill. The Chair of the Republican Federation of Extreme Sports, Yana Zakharova, took part in the ceremonial opening, underscoring the state significance of the project for the development of youth sports in the country.

Eco-Friendly Approach to Construction

When creating the skate park, special attention was paid to preserving the natural environment. The area around the sports venue was landscaped with consideration for existing green plantings. Landscape designers integrated the sports facility into the natural surroundings of the park, creating a harmonious combination of active recreation and ecological comfort.

Development Plans

The success of the first skate park inspired city authorities to further develop sports infrastructure. Sergei Lobodinsky announced plans to build a second venue: "We’re not stopping here. We will look for new locations. Most likely, one of them will be in the Millennium Park; we’ll try to make something special.” The experience gained from implementing the first project will allow creating an even more perfect venue that takes into account the needs of various categories of athletes and modern trends in the development of extreme sports.

Social Significance of the Project

The opening of the skate park in Brest has important social significance for the development of youth culture in Belarus. The modern venue provides teenagers and young people with a quality alternative for spending free time, contributes to the formation of a healthy lifestyle, and the development of sports skills. Safety is ensured by the thoughtful design of all elements and quality surface, which is especially important for novice athletes. The venue is suitable for skateboarding, rollerblading, scootering, and BMX biking, making it versatile for various types of extreme sports.

Prospects for the Development of Extreme Sports in the Region

The appearance of a professional skate park in Brest could become a catalyst for the development of extreme sports throughout the Brest region. The municipal unitary enterprise "Brestzhilstroy," having gained experience in building such facilities, is ready to implement similar projects in other cities of the region. This opens up prospects for creating a regional network of modern sports venues, which will contribute to popularizing a healthy lifestyle among young people and the development of sports tourism in Belarus. The opening of the first concrete skate park in Belarus became an important step in the development of the country’s modern sports infrastructure. The Brest project demonstrates the possibility of creating world-class sports facilities, taking into account ecological requirements and the needs of young people for active leisure.
