Lyakhovsky Square

Lyakhovsky Square is a cozy green recreational area in the center of Minsk, popular among both locals and tourists. The square was created in the 1950s in the Lyakhovka district, historically inhabited by workers, and for a long time served as a place of rest for the residents of this area. In 2019, ahead of the European Games, Lyakhovsky Square underwent extensive renovation. As a result of the improvements, the square now features convenient parking areas, walkways paved with tiles, picturesque flowerbeds, wrought-iron trash bins, modern lamps, and benches. Thanks to this, the square has become an attractive spot for relaxation, especially for young people, as nearby are student dormitories and academic buildings. The main attraction of Lyakhovsky Square is the Tsoi Wall. This memorial, consisting of concrete slabs, was created in the early 1990s by fans of Viktor Tsoi, who began leaving inscriptions and drawings dedicated to the musician and his band "Kino." Every year, on June 21, Viktor Tsoi's birthday, his fans gather at the wall to perform songs and leave new messages. In 2018, the wall was renovated, preserving its significance as an important cultural heritage site.
