History of the construction of Riviera shopping center
The construction of the shopping and entertainment complex lasted almost ten years. Initially, the project on the territory of the former Likhachev Plant was announced in 2006 under the name “River Mall”. However, the 2008 economic crisis forced the project to be frozen. A year later, work resumed, but soon the first developer faced difficulties and was unable to continue implementing the concept.
A new stage of development began in 2014, when the Horus Group of companies took over the project. The concept of the shopping center was completely revised in line with current market trends, which led to the name being changed to “Riviera”. According to various estimates, total investment in construction and finishing exceeded 250 million US dollars. The technical opening took place on April 15, 2016, and full occupancy by tenants was completed during the following year.
Characteristics and scale of the complex
Riviera shopping center impresses with its size and well-thought-out layout. The total area of the complex is almost 300,000 square meters. Three above-ground levels with a total area of about 100,000 square meters are allocated for retail and entertainment spaces. Three underground levels are occupied by a spacious parking garage designed for 3,000 cars.
On weekdays, the mall’s daily footfall reaches 35,000 people, and on weekends and public holidays this figure increases to 50,000 visitors. The complex is positioned in the “lifestyle” category, which means that the focus is not just on selling goods but on creating a comfortable environment for a certain lifestyle.
The shopping gallery of the complex is represented mainly by mass-market brands offering quality products at affordable prices. The main target audience is families with children, which has determined the structure and content of the retail spaces.
