«Dream Island» is the first in Russia and the largest in Europe indoor world-class theme park. Located in the Nagatinskaya floodplain on an area of 100 hectares, the complex combines an indoor amusement zone, a city promenade, and a landscaped park. The grand opening took place on February 29, 2020, and since then, the park has become one of Moscow’s main family leisure destinations.

History of the Amusement Park’s Creation

Construction of “Dream Island” began on March 17, 2016, on the site of the former park named after the 60th Anniversary of October. Initially, the project was planned for completion in 2018, but the opening date was postponed several times. The total area of the main building is 300,000 square meters, and its facade is styled as a fairytale castle with towers and stained glass windows. The height of the central tower reaches 75 meters. The project belongs to the “Regions” company, with investments totaling $1.5 billion.

Park Structure: Three Zones for Total Immersion

Indoor Theme Park

The indoor area of the complex brings together 9 fairytale worlds, each designed in a unique style and filled with interactive entertainment. Visitors can meet beloved cartoon characters such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Smurfs, Snow Queen, Pinocchio, and many others. The park offers over 35 attractions of various types — from children’s carousels to extreme roller coasters. The park’s themed zones include:
  • Fairytale Village — the entrance area inspired by the story of Pinocchio
  • Smurf Village — a 3,500-square-meter area with mushroom houses
  • Hello Kitty — a pink marshmallow castle with a beauty salon for young visitors
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — an extreme attraction zone in New York style
  • Mowgli in the Land of Dinosaurs — the largest zone, covering 10,000 square meters
  • Haunted House — the sinister mansion of Count Strakhov with labyrinths and ghosts
  • Hotel Transylvania — the world of characters from “Hotel Transylvania” cartoons
  • Dream Race — a futuristic city with a racing theme
  • Snow Queen’s Castle — the kingdom of eternal winter with icy attractions
  • Under the Dome — a fairground square with a 32-meter tower

City Promenade — A Journey Through World Capitals

The city promenade consists of four spacious pedestrian galleries and three atriums designed in architectural styles of different countries. Visitors can see Gaudí’s famous Casa Batlló in Barcelona, stroll along Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, take photos against a replica of the Roman Colosseum, and peek into a red London phone booth. The central atrium is the “Moscow” themed square, covered by Europe’s largest glass dome — 8,000 square meters in area and 25 meters high. The promenade is equipped with numerous cafes, souvenir shops, and relaxation zones. Throughout the year, themed events, workshops, festivals, and character meet-and-greets take place. Entrance to the city promenade is free, making it a popular spot even without visiting the rides.

Landscape Park — Outdoor Recreation

The landscape park surrounds the indoor complex and is divided into northern and southern zones, with a total area of 44 hectares. The southern part is intended for family recreation: lawns, flower beds, playgrounds, swings, sandpits, and mazes are arranged here. The northern zone is designed for active leisure, with sports grounds, workout areas, jogging, and cycling paths. Many decorative trees and shrubs have been planted, with living hedges and shaded areas created. Around 7,000 trees from the original green area of the floodplain were preserved during landscaping. In summer, the northern park hosts the Dream Beach Club with heated pools, water slides, and a 30-meter-long wave pool.

Attractions for All Ages

The park offers more than 50 attractions of various types. For young visitors, there are carousels, interactive workshops, and play zones. Thrill-seekers can ride roller coasters in complete darkness, swing up to multi-story heights on the “Hammer of Fate,” or experience the free-fall tower. Popular attractions include:
  • Roller coasters with rapid acceleration
  • Water rides and labyrinths
  • A 32-meter tower with hanging swings under the dome
  • Immersive virtual reality journeys
  • A mini-race track for young drivers
  • An aerial express ride over the park
Many rides have height restrictions. The minimum height for safe riding is 90 cm, and full access to all attractions is available for visitors taller than 140 cm.

  5. Visit the park’s website to see which attractions are under maintenance
  6. Note that children under 14 are allowed only when accompanied by an adult

Interactive Programs and Shows

The park hosts daily interactive shows and performances where visitors can become part of the story. Available activities include quests with cartoon characters, craft workshops, science experiments, and theatrical performances. Play zones with educational elements are designed to combine fun with learning and skill development. Meet-and-greet sessions with 26 characters last from 5 to 15 minutes. Special events, festivals, and themed programs are organized for holidays. For guests’ convenience, information desks, a medical center, mother-and-child rooms, luggage storage, and cloakrooms are available.

Advantages of the Indoor Format

Since the amusement park is fully enclosed, it operates year-round regardless of weather conditions. All zones are located under huge glass domes, creating a sense of spaciousness and comfort. The total roof glazing area is 28,000 square meters. Every detail — architecture, furniture, lighting, and decor — contributes to the feeling of total immersion in a fairytale. “Dream Island” is a place that offers almost every kind of family recreation. It’s no wonder it’s called the Russian Disneyland. The complex provides rich programs for the whole family all year round, combining traditional attractions with modern virtual reality technologies and immersive shows. Spacious walkways, accessibility for visitors with limited mobility, and clear signage ensure a comfortable experience for all guests.
