Aquapark Luzhniki

Aquapark Luzhniki

11 min. to read

The capital’s aquacomplex “Luzhniki” is a unique combination of sports infrastructure and world-class entertainment space. Located within the famous Olympic complex, this water palace covers more than 12,000 square meters and can accommodate up to two thousand guests simultaneously. The grand opening of the modern complex took place in 2019 after a large-scale reconstruction of the historic pool built in the mid-20th century. Today, it is one of the most technologically advanced and spacious water parks in Russia, where cutting-edge water treatment systems coexist with breathtaking attractions.

Water Attractions and Slides: Adrenaline at Its Peak

The main pride of the complex — nine extreme water slides, each with its own character and level of difficulty. The total length of all routes exceeds 1,300 meters, making every ride varied and unforgettable.

Top Slides of the “Luzhniki” Aquapark

“Cyclone” — a spiral slide 16.5 meters high and 136 meters long, where visitors experience dizzying spins before the final descent. “Whirlwind” — the longest slide in the complex, 170 meters in length with a 16.5-meter elevation drop, combining high-speed sections with smooth turns. “Tornado” and “Storm” — twin attractions of nearly equal height (around 17 meters), perfect for friendly races. “Master Blaster” — an innovative 175-meter-long slide with uphill sections where special water jets propel the raft against gravity. “Aqua Sphere” — an extreme 200-meter attraction with enclosed segments and unexpected turns in complete darkness.

For Children and Family Recreation

Young visitors have access to a special water playground with safe slides, interactive fountains, and shallow pools. Children at least 107 cm tall can ride four slides, and from 122 cm — gain access to five more extreme attractions. In addition to slides, the complex offers the “Lazy River” attraction, 1.35 meters deep, where guests can float calmly along a circular route, enjoying the gentle current.

Olympic-Standard Pools and Thermal Zones

The water complex is equipped with pools for various purposes, from competitive swimming to leisure activities.

Sports Pools

  • 50-meter pool, 1.8–2.3 meters deep, for professional swimming, with water temperature 27–29°C
  • 25-meter pool, 1.2–1.8 meters deep, for training and recreational swimming
  • Both pools meet Olympic standards and are equipped with modern timing systems

Leisure Pools

Wave Pool — a unique attraction with artificial waves and a gradual depth increase up to 1.55 meters. Water temperature is maintained at a comfortable 30°C, allowing for long sessions. Outdoor Thermal Pools — the jewel of the complex. Two pools with water at +36°C lead out to an open terrace overlooking the Sparrow Hills and Moscow State University. Their year-round operation makes open-air winter swimming possible.

Unique Retractable Roof

In warm weather, when the air temperature exceeds 25°C, two transformer roof sections open above the main hall. This innovative feature turns the indoor aquapark into an open-air recreation zone while maintaining comfortable water temperatures.

Thermal Complex: Wellness and Relaxation

On the third floor lies an extensive thermal zone covering several thousand square meters. Access to the thermal area is usually included in the “Aquapark + Thermal” ticket.

Included in the Thermal Complex

  • Show Sauna for up to 60 people, around 70°C, offering collective steam sessions with aromatherapy
  • Finnish Sauna with dry steam up to 90°C for fans of traditional sauna experiences
  • Hammam — Turkish bath with humid steam and marble loungers for deep heating
  • Snow Room around 0°C for contrast therapy after steam sessions
  • Jacuzzi with hydromassage jets for muscle relaxation
  • Rest Areas with loungers and dimmed lighting
The thermal complex operates on the same schedule as the main aquapark. Specific sauna rules apply, including towel use and limits on continuous steam room time.
