Island of Dreams Expands: New Open-Air Zone and Attractions by 2026

March 1,5 min. to read

The entertainment complex “Island of Dreams”, recognized as the largest indoor amusement park in Russia and Europe, is preparing for a historic expansion. Amiran Mutsov, Chairman of the Board of the “Island of Dreams” holding, told President Vladimir Putin during a meeting that the completion of the open-air section of the park is scheduled for 2026.

New Open-Air Zone: Scale and Concept

According to Mutsov, a unique open-air zone covering up to 260,000 square meters will be created on the complex’s premises. This expansion will allow “Island of Dreams” to rank among the top ten largest parks in the world and strengthen its position on the international stage. The new open-air section will combine more than 20 modern attractions, an urban promenade, an interactive green maze covering 2,500 square meters, playgrounds, and a waterfront with access to the water. The project also includes the creation of a fairy-tale village “Drimchiks”, which will enhance the park’s atmosphere and serve as a true magnet for family recreation.

Innovative Attractions and Themed Zones

The new phase of development for “Island of Dreams” envisions the creation of 10 themed zones, where visitors can immerse themselves in an atmosphere of adventure and new experiences. Among the expected attractions are a monorail slide 631 meters long, the largest slide in Russia with freely rotating carts stretching 392 meters, and an attraction simulating a descent through turbulent river rapids. Special attention has been given to the coaster, which will be 1058 meters long, featuring a vertical ascent reaching speeds of up to 41 km/h and a maximum speed of up to 110 km/h. Additionally, a unique innovation will be the revolving drop observation tower, as well as a pendulum with three axes of rotation, providing thrilling 360-degree sensations.

Support at the Highest Level

The initiative for the development of the domestic entertainment industry was supported by none other than the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. This underscores the strategic importance of the project for the country's economy and its potential to attract tourists from both Russia and abroad. In turn, Mutsov noted that the park’s annual attendance growth is 30–40%, which highlights the sustained success of “Island of Dreams” as one of the most dynamically developing entertainment centers in Europe.

Additional Projects and Infrastructure Development

In addition to the large-scale expansion of the open-air section, construction of a new concert hall with 10,000 seats is set to begin at the complex in 2025. This will enable grand shows and concerts, meeting the needs of the most demanding audience. As part of the comprehensive development plan, the construction of a hotel and two halls for musicals is also planned: one designed for 1,500 spectators targeting a younger audience, and the other for 650 seats for children's performances. It is planned that total investments in the development of the open-air area will exceed 15 billion rubles. The new entertainment complex in the Nagatinskaya floodplain will not only become a unique destination for family leisure but also an important tourist attraction capable of drawing the attention of investors and visitors to the capital.

Development Prospects and Significance for Moscow

The expansion of “Island of Dreams” is not merely a park update but a strategic move towards creating one of the largest entertainment centers in the world. The new project will drive the development of urban infrastructure, create thousands of jobs, and open up new opportunities for hosting cultural and entertainment events. Moscow continues to strengthen its image as a modern metropolis, capable of offering both residents and visitors the most advanced solutions in leisure and entertainment. Thus, the launch of the open-air section of the “Island of Dreams” park in 2026 promises to be a landmark event in the history of Moscow's entertainment. It is expected that, thanks to innovative attractions, a wide array of themed zones, and large-scale investments, the complex will reinforce its position not only in Russia but also on the global stage, attracting tourists and enthusiasts of quality leisure from all corners of the globe.
