One of the main winter symbols of the capital is preparing to welcome visitors in its twentieth season.
The GUM Ice Rink on Red Square will open on December 1, 2025 and will operate until March 1, 2026, creating a festive atmosphere in the very heart of Moscow throughout all the winter months.
Dymkovo toy as the main theme of the season
Traditionally, every season the GUM Ice Rink is transformed, drawing inspiration from one of Russia’s famous folk crafts. In previous years, Muscovites and guests of the capital admired festive installations with delicate Gzhel patterns, bright Zhostovo painting, and elegant Khokhloma curls.
In the anniversary 20th season, the source of inspiration is the Dymkovo toy – the famous clay souvenir originating from Vyatka. This craft is easily recognized by its characteristic white background, decorated with rich colors, circles, and geometric patterns. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of traditional Russian folk art right on the country’s main square.
Opening hours and visiting conditions
The GUM Ice Rink will be open daily from 09:00 to 23:30, giving visitors the opportunity to skate both early in the morning and late in the evening. The last session starts at 22:30, and each session lasts one hour.
Free skating on weekdays
The organizers have prepared a pleasant surprise for lovers of morning skating.
The first four morning sessions on weekdays will be completely free of charge. This is a great opportunity to start the day with active outdoor recreation in the historical center of Moscow.

The GUM Ice Rink in the context of New Year’s Moscow
The opening of the rink will be part of the large-scale preparations of the capital for the 2025–2026 New Year period. Moscow is already being actively decorated for the holidays using multifunctional structures from past years, adapted to the current date and symbols.
On streets, in parks and squares, large illuminated figures reading "2026" will appear, and the largest New Year’s ball will be installed on Poklonnaya Hill.
The GUM Ice Rink on Red Square traditionally becomes one of the central elements of the city’s winter decorations, attracting thousands of visitors throughout the season.
The twentieth anniversary season promises to be a special event for all lovers of winter entertainment and will create a unique festive atmosphere in the historical center of Moscow.
