Metropolis Shopping Mall is one of the largest malls in the capital, located on Leningradskoye Highway just fifteen minutes’ drive from the center of Moscow. The complex, with an area of over 200,000 square meters, brings together more than 250 retail outlets and food service establishments, attracting around 24 million visitors annually.

History of the Shopping Complex

Until the early 2000s, the site was occupied by the Voykov Cast Iron Foundry, later renamed Rubikon Nord CJSC. In 2004, the 13-hectare plot was acquired by Capital Partners, which initiated the construction of a multifunctional complex. The architectural bureau ABD architects developed the design of the modern shopping center, whose distinctive feature is an almost completely glass façade. This solution makes it possible to view shop windows both from inside the building and from the outside. The mall opened in 2009.

Expansion and Modernization

A significant stage in its development was the August 2016 expansion, when a new four-storey wing with a total area of 65,000 square meters was added to the main building. The renovated space included not only retail areas but also a winter garden with a swimming pool. At the same time as the opening of MCC Baltiyskaya station, a direct covered walkway was opened, linking the transport hub with the shopping center.
