<b>Gostiny Dvor</b> is a complex of unique historical buildings located in <a href="https://findit.city/en/belarus/minsk/leisure/tourism/sights/2/description">Liberty Square</a> in <a href="https://findit.city/en/belarus/minsk/leisure/tourism/sights/1/description">Upper Town</a> of Minsk. The construction of this architectural monument began in the 16th century, but major works were carried out in the 18th century when the provincial architect Fyodor Kramer reconstructed it in the style of Classicism.

Over time, the building has undergone numerous changes. In the first half of the 19th century, a trading gallery was added, and in 1909, the southwest part of the complex was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style. This intricate architectural ensemble includes two- and three-story buildings with inner courtyards, making it attractive for both locals and tourists.

For a long time, Gostiny Dvor served as the city’s shopping center, where the best goods could be found in its shops and stalls. However, in the early 20th century, institutions such as the Minsk branch of the Azov-Don Bank and the merchant club were located here. In 1917, the building became an important center of political life, earning the nickname "Minsk Smolny" due to frequent party meetings.

Despite the destruction during the Great Patriotic War, Gostiny Dvor was restored and continues to serve as a symbol of Minsk. In recent years, the building has been fully renovated, preserving its unique historical appearance. Today, Gostiny Dvor not only decorates Freedom Square but also plays a significant role in the cultural life of the city, attracting tourists and locals with its shops, restaurants, and architectural beauty.
